Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Reaktif LLC.
These Terms are the agreement for using brief.finance: the website, the Mac app, the MCP server and the API. They cover what the service is and isn't, how payment and credits work, what you can do with what Willow writes, and the limits of our responsibility. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.

Who we are
brief.finance is run by Reaktif LLC, a limited liability company registered in Delaware, USA. "We", "us" and "our" mean Reaktif LLC. You can reach us at joseph@brief.finance.
What the service is
brief.finance is a research tool. Willow, its research assistant, answers questions about US-listed companies using company filings, market data and other sources, shows where each figure comes from, and gives its own view when you ask for one. It can also build briefs and longer research, keep a watchlist, alert you to new filings and unusual price moves from companies you follow, watch filings for questions you set, test a rule on a stock's past, and run tasks on a schedule.
Willow can tell you what it thinks of a company, including whether it leans toward buying, holding or selling it. That view is about the company and is the same for anyone who asks: Willow does not size positions, set price targets or tailor its view to your own finances. Its views come from AI, and no person checks them before you see them. They are not advice from a regulated financial adviser: Reaktif LLC is not registered or authorised as an investment adviser or broker anywhere. Read the Disclosures before relying on anything you read here.
Your account
- You must be at least 18 and able to enter into a contract.
- A subscription is for one person. Don't share your sign-in or your API keys.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account, including through your API keys and MCP connections. Keep keys secret, and revoke any key you think has leaked.
- Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- resell the service or what it produces, or offer it to others as a product, newsletter, signal service or advisory service, without our written agreement;
- copy in bulk, store or pass on the stock prices shown in the service, other than by sharing an answer through the app, because our data supplier's licence forbids it;
- scrape the service, or get around its rate limits, credit limits or safety checks;
- upload material you have no right to share, or other people's personal data without a lawful reason;
- use the service to break the law, including the securities, market-abuse and financial-promotion rules where you live;
- disrupt the service, test it for security holes without our permission (email us instead), or get into other people's accounts.
Price, renewal and credits
Willow is a paid subscription, billed monthly or yearly in US dollars at the price on the Pricing page when you subscribe, less any promo code you use. There is no free trial beyond one free Willow answer per new account; after it, an account without a subscription cannot use Willow, though it can still follow companies and get alerts when they file with the SEC. Stripe processes payments. Sales tax or VAT may apply depending on where you live; checkout shows the total before you pay.
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period and charges your saved card, until you cancel. If we change the price, we will email you at least 30 days before your next renewal at the new price, so you can cancel before it applies.
Willow's work is measured in credits, based on how much AI model work each answer takes and on the live web searches it runs (a search Willow ran recently is free); dictation is charged by the length of the recording. Your plan includes a credit allowance counted over the last 24 hours and the last 7 days, so it frees up continuously; there is no monthly reset. Larger models use more credits. The app shows your remaining allowance. If you run out, you can wait, or buy a one-off credit pack, which can be used only while you have a subscription.
You use credits only for work that gives you something to read. An answer uses credits once it is saved to your chat, including a partial answer when Willow had to stop early. A turn that fails before answering, that you stop, or that Willow declines uses none. A brief uses credits only when it is finished, and a deep-research step that fails uses none. If the final write-up of a deep-research run fails, you still get the finished steps and the write-up is charged. A thesis debate is charged for the model work it ran, even if it fails to finish.
Cancelling and refunds
You can cancel at any time with Manage billing in Settings, which opens Stripe's billing page. Your subscription stays active until the end of the period you paid for and then stops. We don't refund part-used periods, except where the law requires it or after a serious outage of our service; email joseph@brief.finance.
If you are a consumer in the UK or EU, you can cancel within 14 days of first subscribing and we refund what you paid in full. Cancel with Manage billing and email joseph@brief.finance to ask for the refund. Nothing in these Terms limits your legal rights as a consumer.
If you delete your account, your subscription stops renewing and we don't refund the rest of the paid period. Deleting happens straight away, so you lose access at once; cancel instead if you want to use the plan until the period ends.
Credit packs are not refundable once used. If a credit pack payment is refunded, the unused credits from that pack are removed.
Your content and ours
- Your content: the questions you ask, the files you upload and the notes you write stay yours. You let us store and process them to run the service for you and to improve Willow, as our Privacy Policy explains.
- What Willow writes for you: you may read, save, export and quote it for your own use and in your own work. You may not sell it, publish it as a paid product, or present it as your own original analysis. The filings, prices and other data in an answer stay subject to their owners' terms.
- Shared answers and public skills: anyone who can see them can read them. Only share what you are happy to make public, and leave out other people's personal data. We may remove shared content that breaks these Terms.
- Ours: we own brief.finance itself, including the software, the Willow and brief.finance names and brands, the design, and the way answers and briefs are put together.
- Feedback: if you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.
AI, data and alerts can be wrong
- Willow's answers are written by AI models. They can be wrong: they can misread a filing, mix up figures, cite the wrong source or use old data, even when a source is shown. Check important facts against the linked source before you rely on them.
- Our checks, described on the Methodology page, catch some errors, not all of them.
- Alerts, watches and schedules can arrive late or not at all, for example when a data source or notification service is down. Don't rely on them for time-sensitive decisions.
- Tests of a rule on a stock's past are hypothetical. They leave out dividends, trading costs and taxes, and they don't predict future returns. See the Disclosures.
Not regulated advice, and no guarantees
Willow's views are opinions written by AI, not advice from a regulated adviser, and nothing on brief.finance is legal, tax or accounting advice. You alone decide what to do with your money, and you are responsible for those decisions. If you need advice that suits your circumstances, speak to a qualified, regulated professional.
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". As far as the law allows, we make no promise that it will be accurate, complete, up to date, uninterrupted or fit for any particular purpose.
Limits on our liability
As far as the law allows, Reaktif LLC and the people who work for it are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost data, or investment or trading losses arising from your use of the service.
Our total liability to you for all claims is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose and one hundred US dollars.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. If you are a consumer, you keep all your statutory rights.
Claims caused by your misuse
If someone makes a claim against us because you broke these Terms, misused the service, or published content in breach of sections 4 or 7, you agree to cover our reasonable costs, including legal fees. If you are a consumer, this applies only as far as the law allows.
Ending the agreement
You can stop at any time: cancel your subscription and, if you want your data gone, delete your account.
We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, use the service to get around its safety checks, or expose us to legal risk. Where reasonable, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put things right. If we close your account without good reason, we refund the unused part of your subscription.
We may change or remove features as the product develops. If we shut down the whole service, we will give you at least 30 days' notice and refund any prepaid time you have not used.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA. Disputes that are not consumer disputes go to the state or federal courts in Delaware.
If you are a consumer in the UK or EU, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change matters, we will tell you by email or in the app at least 14 days before it takes effect, and you can cancel before then. The date at the top shows the current version. If you keep using the service after a change takes effect, the new Terms apply.
